Bike Help What Is Wrong With My Bike?
i have a mountain bike that has a problem with it.
My bike has a speed changer of 1-3 on one side of the handle bar, on the other side the speed changer thing has 1-7. When I set it to 3 on the one side, then 6 on the other. My bike pedals and chain seem to lock and makes it impossible to use it. whats wrong please help

Cross chaining, where you use big front chain rings and big rear cogs, or conversely, small front chain rings and small rear cogs is not efficient.
Does the 3 mean big front chainring, or small chainring? Does 7 mean big rear cog, or small rear cog?
take it to a bike shop. however, kind of look around at different ones and ask them questions. if ure impressed on their knowledge, have them take a look at it. im in college, i have a car and a bike. so I know how important it is to have a bike.
I think , it need just cable and derailer adjustment if nothing bent . Take it to bike shop , it will do not cost a lots of money !
Your chain could be too short or derrailleur bent or needing adjustment.
All you need is a deraillleur adjustment. Have the guy check the whole drivetrain though. There could be more wrong.
one of the gears might be bad
