Do I Need Stitches For A Small Avulsion?
it is on my shin about 4 inches distal to my knee and is about 2 in long, 1/8 in deep, and 1/8 in wide. The bleeding is under control and I have an extremely strong immune system so infection is not a problem. Scarring is also not an issue. Is there any reason to stitch it up? By the way, it was caused by a mountain bike pedal.

An avulsion cannot be stitched. You should read about that with all the jargon you have picked up.
ETA: darn spellcheck.
Open wounds are easy to get infected. Healing is best without infection and with skin closed!
