What Do You Think Of This Hardtail Mountain Bike?

I just bought it today at my local bike shop for $419 canadian. I added a bike stand which it didn't have for $7. It totalled $449 with tax.
It's a Trek Series 3 3500 with 18" frame and 26" x 2.00 wheels
I'm not a hardcore biker. I just ride around the neighborhood and love to go do forest trails. Basically some light offroad.
Here's the specs:

Kona Stab Mountain Bike Assembly…?

I am assembling myself a bike.
So far I have a Kona Stab frame (2005 Model) and X2 26" 2.5 DH tires... and.. a good condition Trek 4000 (1999 Model)
Can I move all the components (Pedals, crank, derailleur etc) from the Trek to my Kona? How do I know if the components are compatible?
I'd also want disc brakes, must i then get new wheel (spokes, hub, rim etc)? Does this affect which kind of a fork i can get?
And can I just use the same handlebars/headset?
Please help me!

I'm 6'3 and 240 lbs, just bought this 26" Men's Roadmaster Mountain Sport SX All Terrain Bike: from wal-mart. I registered 38mph from stand still on flat road surface without standing pedal. The speedometer i used is a Bell FreeFit 15 Function Wireless Speedometer.
