Kona Stab Mountain Bike Assembly…?
I am assembling myself a bike.
So far I have a Kona Stab frame (2005 Model) and X2 26" 2.5 DH tires... and.. a good condition Trek 4000 (1999 Model)
Can I move all the components (Pedals, crank, derailleur etc) from the Trek to my Kona? How do I know if the components are compatible?
I'd also want disc brakes, must i then get new wheel (spokes, hub, rim etc)? Does this affect which kind of a fork i can get?
And can I just use the same handlebars/headset?
Please help me!

You can use the same handle bars as long as you have a stem the same size, the headset should be able to fit. Front derailleurs are mostly universal, though you have to take off the chain off your old trek to get it off. The 2.5 inch tires are sum fat tires so take that into consideration when/if buying forks. petals are almost universal only one bolt, to take the crank off you need a special crank tool and its a pain, not like a bmx crank set. To tell if you need different forks, look for something resembling a tab at the bottom of the fork around where you think they would be mounted. You would need different hubs for discs, no different spokes, and possibly a different rims but I don’t think so. Remember, with those wide tires, look for a DH or All mountain fork( at least 130mm) and you should be good!
