Looking To Buy A Mountain Bike?

I'm looking to buy a Trek or Gary Fisher Mountain bike for no more than $350. Is Trek and Gary Fisher now made in China?
3 years ago I bought a bike frim WalMart and I still have have it and it;s no good.
1.replaced the rear wheel -the original wheel was bent many times and the axle that went inside was no good anymore
2.replace the seat clamp
3.plastic pedals/brake levers
4.heavy bike
5.too much play at the pedals-the axle is no good anymore
6.this bike feels nasty and heavy to ride.
Now-is the components and the frame on Trek/Gary Fisher bikes made in China?

I don’t think that the Components are made in China for earthier of these brands and if there are i don’t think it will mater. I have a trek jack 1 i got for 400$ that is holding up great i recommend it.

well if your sticking to 350 dollars you can get the gary fisher mako, the cheapest bike they make, or you can get the trek 850, again, the cheapest bike they make. They are made in china now, even a few years ago only a few trek bikes were made in china. My gary fisher was made in china as well. I would sugesst spending more so that the bike will last and wont be so heavy. The 850 is not a great bike, ur reely paying for the name. I would spend 500 on a good bike if you want good components and a lighter bike. It will last much longer as well.

Pretty much everything is made in China or Asia. It cost too darn much to manufacture anything in this country. Even some of the most expensive bikes are made over seas.
Your Trek or Gary Fisher will be a thousand times better then your previous bicycle even if it was made in China. Dont worry. If you have any issues just bring it back to the shop and they can help you out.
    Good luck

The frames are made in China but that doesn’t mean a declination in quality. Most of the parts probably are too, with a few exceptions. Also I recommend a bike from Giant or Haro.

your best bet is your local bike shop
usually the people there know what they are talking about and are helpful as they deal specifically with bikes and need to make sales for their livelihood
