Mountain Bike Stolen In Front Of My Face While In The Philippines?

I was in the Philippines for a two week vacation which I really enjoy I took my Mountain Bike to avoid the driving traffic however, I think I was duped because one day as I was riding my bike a Filipino male trip in front of my bike which made me stop to see if he was ok as I was doing this another Filipino hopped on the bike and took of at a fast paced even the metal teeth pedals didn't seem to slow him down as he was barefoot. My question is why do people do these very degrading techniques to people, why still the bike and what will happen to the bike any suggestions are welcome.

First of all I would like to apologize for what happened. There are a lot of reasons why people do these things. Poverty & Drug addiction may be one of them. Poverty because they are not equip with education that’s why they can’t find a job to support their needs so they steal. Drug addiction – selling the bike would mean money to buy drugs.

Seriously dude. Do you really not have a clue as to why people in the Philippines would resort to larceny?
I could empathize if you were one of those snooty people who see the country through the rose-tinted windows of their chauffeur-driven limo as they move about from place to place. But for crying out loud, you travel the streets of Manila on a bicycle: seeing, hearing and smelling the stench of desperate reality out there–and you still cannot figure it out.
    Why don’t you ask them?

Ouch! It must have been a very good mountain bike that you lost “behind your face”.
The dude who “borrowed” your bike will most probably sell it. Then he’ll be running towards the nearest footwear store.

Contrary to your allegation, the bike was not stolen “in front of your face”. As per your statement, you alighted from the bike in order to try assisting a fallen man. And when you turned back, the bike was speeding off with someone else on it. Therefore, the theft occurred “behind your face”.
Right. Now, while it is a very “kind Samaritan” thing to help your fellow man, it is very un-Christian to accuse people of fraud and trickery. Who could say what really happened? Per your statement, you did not actually see the thief ride your bike. You only saw someone riding away with a bike very similar to your own. Are you the only one with a bike in the entire Philippines? Who could say if your own bike was still there when you ran after the “alleged” thief? And if it is not entirely possible that since no one was claiming your bike on the road, the traffic enforcers decided to impound it?
