well, it is nearly impossible to find new a mountain bike under 300 with medal pedals. What you will have to do is either put on med peds after market or if you buy your bike at a bike shop often if you say you dont want resin pedals they will put on medal pedals for you. as for the best bike under 300 it just depends on what you can find. My dad has a giant boulder and it is pretty good. some things you want to look for are shimano acera, altus, alivo or deore gearing or sram sx-4 or x-5 gearing. MAKE SURE TO GET A HARD TAIL (no rear suspension), decent rear suspension bikes start at 1000, 600 even for an ok one. go to a bike shop to get a bike, department store bikes like your mongoose are made to look good not to preform. disc breakes are better, but linear pull brakes are ussaly better on >300 bikes. The best fork for a >300 bike is a rock shox dart 1, but suntour forks are ok to. aluminum frames are much lighter than steel ones, most bikes will say 6061 or 7005 amuminum if they have aluminum tubing. If youre lucky you can find something on sale.
Well, I got a Fuji Odessa, it’s their starter model bottom of the line. You should be able to find on in that range. I put street tires on it, and ride daily 20-25 miles, so far I have logged 3,200 miles! It’s been great for the money.
You should save up 100 dollars more. Then you can get a trek 3700 or 3900.
Most entry level mountain bikes from reputable companies run around 350-450.
You might find a Hardrock on sale for that price. It’s an just ok bike.
nothing unless you dont mind a walmart junker
